I was only in Essaouira a short time, but it was easily one of my favourite stops in Morocco. A centuries-old fortress, seafood galore, terrific shopping in the souks, and 10 kilometres of beach, right in front of you.

Both nights of my visit, we had clear skies and magnificent sunsets, perfect for a nice, long walk, taking in the view of Mogador Island off in the distance.
