Favourite photos: The doors of Meknes, Morocco

The mausoleum of Moulay Ismail in Meknes, Morocco is an architectural wonder for many reasons. For me, it is special because it was my first real exposure to Islamic architecture and decorative arts, including this fancifully carved and painted door.

If you make it Meknes, the mausoleum is really a must-see. It’s also the site of one of my favourite travel photos ever.
